Speaker meets Indian Minister of External Affairs

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Speaker M.Enkhbold expressed interest in cooperating with India on dairy industry to utilize Mongolia’s potential. Mongolia produces about 1 million tons of milk per annum, but processes only 8-10 percent. The Speaker sees that Mongolia and India can cooperate on cluster development of the manufacturing of dairy products. 

The Speaker received Sushma Swaraj, Indian Minister of External Affairs on April 25 to discuss bilateral relations. Speaker M.Enkhbold appreciated the advancing bilateral cooperation and the development of strategic partnership between the two countries, while emphasizing the role of the 2015 visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and this visit in further expanding bilateral relationship.
 
The Minister expressed her pleasure at meeting the Speaker of Mongolian Parliament and said, “India and Mongolia have always been connected spiritually through religion. In this modern time, we are united by our democratic values and common future of intensive development.”
 
Parliamentary cooperation between Mongolia and India goes back to 1962, and a Memorandum for Cooperation was signed 2016. The sides agreed to broaden bilateral parliamentary exchange. Speaker M.Enkhbold appreciated an invitation to pay a visit to India from his counterpart Sumitra Mahajan, conveyed by the visiting Minister.
 
The Speaker also touched upon other aspects of bilateral cooperation such as the oil refinery project and religious studies pursued by Mongolians in India, requesting the Indian Government to pay attention to their health and safety.
 
The Minister noted the importance of efforts from both sides and active cooperation to carry out the measures agreed.
