Electric vehicles to be exempt from road use fee

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Electric vehicles will be exempt from road use fee and will be allowed in the capital’s traffic without restrictions.

The Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Batbold issued a decree aimed to reduce  amount of smoke emissions from automobile, to reduce negative impacts on the environment and increase the use of economical electric vehicles, as studies show that emission from vehicles makes 10 per cent of Ulaanbaatar's air pollution. Moreover power stations for electric vehicles will be established and a plan on actions and measures to encourage use of electric vehicle will be developed and adhered further.

According to the Ministry of Roads and Transportation development database, by April 11, 2017, a total of 74 electric vehicles have been registered, of which 61 are public and private-owned trolleybuses and 13 are mini-trucks and passenger cars.
