Agreement on mutual recognition of education certificates signed between Mongolia and Cuba
The Mongolian Minister for Education, Culture, Science and Sports G.Chuluunbaatar and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Mongolia Raul Delgado Consepcion signed the Agreement on Mutual Acknowledgement of Tertiary Education Certification and Degrees between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the Republic of Cuba.

Mongolian scouts invite volunteers for Asia-Pacific Jamboree
The 31st Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Jamboree is going to take place in Mongolia between July 27 and August 2. This year’s motto will be “Go Nomad!”. The 2017 APR Jamboree is gathering about 6,000 kids from more than 50 countries. The jamboree is being carried out from one station to another. The first station will be a Nomadic Culture Complex for international participants to get familiar with the nomadic lifestyle and traditions. The next one will be an Adventure Complex, challenging the scouts’ bravery and teamwork skills.
Mongolian student creates number plate recognition system
E.Batzorig, student at Mongolian State University of Education, along with other students, has created a number plate recognition system. Within the framework of Ministry of Science, Education, Culture and Sports’ student development program, E.Batzorig created the technology using MNT 3 million.

Lunch cost for students of special schools to be raised
A mid-day meal cost for per student, who studies in special schools will be increased to MNT2400, starting next September. The Government made this decision yesterday, June 7, considering that nutritious and nourishing meal provision for children, particularly the children with disabilities, would influence positively their health and would be a vital support for their successful studies. Increase of funding would give a possibility to provide 40-45 per cent of daily nutrition need of children with the lunch.
First Mongolian satellite launched into space
June 4, Sunday saw the launch of Mongolia’s very first satellite ‘Mazaalai’, made by Mongolians, at Kennedy Space Center, Florida at 5.50AM (Ulaanbaatar time)with SpaceX Falcon9 rocket. The launch was supposed to take place on June 2, but had to be postponed due to weather factor.
Arslan Rinchin awarded Sasakawa Health Prize
Scientist from Mongolia Arslan Rinchin has been awarded the Sasakawa Health Prize according to a decision of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO). Mongolian Minister of Health A.Tsogtsetseg accepted the award, on behalf of R.Arslan, during the 70th World Health Assembly.

Peace Corps to cooperate with Health Ministry in health education project
The US Peace Corps is to implement a new health education project in Mongolia and today, May 19, Director of Peace Corps Mongolia Gene Nixon and Health Minister A.Tsogtsetseg signed a Memorandum of Mutual Understanding to cooperate within the project. Mr Gene Nixon expressed his pleasure to implement new project with the Government of Mongolia targeted at capacity building of children and youths for enhancing healthy lifestyles and life skills.
Education cooperation between Mongolia and Italy discussed
Ts.Jambaldorj, Ambassador of Mongolia to Italy met with Dorina Bianchi, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Italy. The two sides talked about future bilateral cooperation and steps to take following the meeting of the Mongolia-Italy Intergovernmental Commission held last April in Ulaanbaatar, in which Ms. Dorina Bianchi participated among Italian delegates.
Director of UNESCO Cluster Office in Jakarta attends Mongolian Innovation Week
Dr. Shahbaz Khan, Director of the UNESCO Cluster Office in Jakarta and Regional Bureau for Science in Asia and the Pacific, attended the Mongolian Innovation Week - 2017 events during his visit to Mongolia between May 9 and 12. Within the framework of the annual Mongolian Innovation Week - 2017 organized by the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST), the National Innovation Forum was held on May 10 and Dr. Shahbaz Khan gave a keynote speech on “Science, Engineering, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable development”. Also, he delivered a presentation on “Role of Science, Technology and Innovation to deliver UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” at an International conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development on May 11.
UNESCO to provide policy support for Mongolian economy
J.Batsuuri, Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports received Prof. Dr. Shahbaz Khan, the Director of the UNESCO Cluster Office in Jakarta and Regional Bureau for Science in Asia and the Pacific. Prof. Dr. Shahbaz was the Chief of Section on Sustainable Water Resources Development and Management at UNESCO, Paris in 2008. Dr. Shahbaz was appointed as the Deputy Director and Senior Program Specialist at the UNESCO Office in Jakarta in 2012. Since 215, he has been entrusted with the Officer-in-Charge functions of the UNESCO Office in Jakarta.
