Publicly-raised MNT 2.2 billion transferred to Children’s Fund

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On December 30, 2020, an all-star benefit concert ‘Mongolian Culture-Mongolian Children’, co-organized by the Ministry of Culture and Children’s Fund NGO, was broadcast live on TV and social media channels and raised more than MNT 2.2 billion from the public, designated for the Children’s Fund. 


On May 21, 2021, the MNT 2.2 billion of fund has been officially transferred to the Children’s Fund, established by the government of Mongolia and the Ministry of Culture in December 2020. The fund certificate was handed over by representatives from the Children’s Fund NGO and artists took part in the fundraising concert to Minister of Labor and Social Protection A. Ariunzaya.


On December 30, 2020, the government of Mongolia approved to re-establish Children’s Fund, designed for financing projects to re-build child and youth development places, such as Children’s Library, Children’s Theatre and cultural and sports facilities. "The government of Mongolia would allocate another MNT 10 billion to the Children’s Fund," has said then-Prime Minister Khurelsukh Ukhnaa.


The State Great Khural, the parliament of Mongolia, at its session dated April 8, 2021, approved amendments to law on government special-purpose funds and the Children’s Fund’s finance account became open on April 20 of this year. The law amendments enable regulatory framework for open and transparent spending of the Children’s Fund. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection reported that the government will soon adopt regulation for the Children’s Fund expenditures and monitoring on its activities. 


The Children’s Fund is aimed at investing in activities for children development and protection, such as development projects for children, supporting children taking part in international tournaments and events, helping children with disabilities and rewarding children who achieved success.
