Mongolian Teachers and Students Win the Cambridge Science Competition
Ulaanbaatar, February 20, 2024 /MONTSAME/. For the first time, the work of biology teachers and students from Mongolia won first place in the Cambridge Science Competition.Specifically, the Cambridge Upper Secondary Science Competition is held annually among schools with the Cambridge program. Out of 270 teams participating in this Competition in 2023, "Biological Assessment of Water Quality of the Selbe River in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia" was conducted by ninth grade students of "Shine Ue" school with teachers S. Tamir and D. Chinzorig. The work won first place from Mongolia for the first time. They won not only the Best in East Asia November 2023 Award, but also the Best in World November 2023 Award.

Illegally Exported Dinosaur Fossils Returned to Mongolia
Sixteen dinosaur fossils, representing six distinct types and considered significant Mongolian cultural heritage, were repatriated to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on February 16, 2024. The handover to the relevant organizations occurred under the guidelines of the Cultural Heritage Protection Act. Notably, the collection includes a fossil of the "Alioramus" dinosaur, a member of the Tyrannosauridae family found exclusively within Mongolian territory.

Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh Meets with Female Foreign Ministers
Ulaanbaatar, February 20, 2024 /MONTSAME/. During the 60th Munich Security Conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs Battsetseg Batmunkh met with female foreign ministers of some countries on February 17, 2024.The meeting, which is traditionally organized during the meetings of the United Nations and other international organizations, was attended by female foreign ministers from 10 countries, where they exchanged views on issues such as international governance, armed conflicts, climate change, trade, and ways to overcome international and regional challenges. At the meeting, Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh informed the attendees about the World Women's Forum planned to be organized in Ulaanbaatar in August 2024, upon the initiative of the President of Mongolia, and urged the ministers to actively participate.

Transportation of Hay and Feed for Livestock Starts to Aimags and Soums Experiencing Harsh Wintering
Due to continued heavy snowfalls and storms in recent days, the wintering situation has worsened almost throughout the country. Today, the transportation of hay and feed for the herders to the countryside starts.  The Government decided to distribute 20 thousand tons of hay and feed from the State and Aimag’ Reserve Fund free of charge to aimags and soums which experiencing heavy wintering.

USD 10 Million Project to be Implemented for Advancing Eco-Friendly Agriculture
Ulaanbaatar, February 16, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Minister of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia Bat-Erdene Bat-Ulzii received Ambassador of Canada to Mongolia Sandra Choufani on February 16, 2024. The Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia reported that during the meeting, the two parties exchanged experiences in mitigating climate change, reducing desertification and land degradation, increasing forest reserves, and implementing the “One Billion Trees” National Campaign. Discussions also revolved around protecting specially protected areas that preserve natural and cultural wealth, improving proper use and protection management, and strengthening the capacity of environmentalists through enhanced cooperation between the administrations of specially protected areas.

Mongolia to Cooperate with the UAE in Artificial Intelligence

At the World Government Summit, Minister of Digital Development and Communications of Mongolia Uchral Nyam-Osor and Minister of Cabinet Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Mohammad Al Gergawi announced the official start of cooperation between the governments of the two countries. Junior Judokas Win Two Gold Medals in Italy
Ulaanbaatar, February 15, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Mongolian judokas achieved significant success at the Cadet European Cup 2024 held from 10 to 11 February, 2024, in Follonica, Italy, securing two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal. In the men's -55 kg weight category, B. Bat-Enerel, an 11th-grade student at "Mon-Altius" high school and an athlete of the "Mon-Altius Tsagaanbaatar Academy," secured a gold medal. In the women's -48 kg category, J. Anudari, representing the "Jenko" club and the national team, also claimed gold in the competition held in Italy.

Goal Set to Transport More Than Two Million Passengers
Ulaanbaatar, February 15, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The Ministry of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia has declared 2024 as the “Year of Development to Support Regional Development” and set a goal of transporting 2.2 million passengers in the air transport sector. In January 2024, 124.5 thousand passengers were transported internationally by air, representing a 51 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year. Additionally, 33.5 thousand passengers were transported domestically.
