Mongolian Siblings Triumph on Medal Podium at Ice Climbing World Championships

Ulaanbaatar, February 19, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The 2024 International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA) Ice Climbing World Championships and World Cup concluded in Edmonton, Canada, on February 18, 2024.


Mongolian athletes will soon be returning home after a successful participation in the Championships. Notably, Mongolian athletes achieved a historic milestone by winning silver and bronze medals for the first time at the Ice Climbing World Championships.


International Master of Sports Kherlen Nyamdoo, representing Mongolia, clinched a silver medal, while his younger sister, Selenge Nyamdoo, a Master of Sports, secured a bronze medal, marking one of the first instances of siblings gracing the medal stand at the Ice Climbing World Championships.


Additionally, International Master of Sports Mandakhbayar Chuluunbaatar emerged as the leader in the 2024 ice climbing speed category, based on the combined results of three competitions. The Mongolian team claimed the top spot in the Ice Climbing World Championships.
