Mongolia and the US Sign Memorandum of Labor Cooperation

Mongolian Premier Assures Special Focus on Herders' Welfare Post-Dzud
Ulaanbaatar, February 22, 2024 /MONTSAME/. As per the Government's decision, emergency groups, headed by Ministers, have been established to provide assistance to aimags facing dzud. Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai visited Khangai soum of Arkhangai aimag on February 22, 2024, to assess the risks facing herders in the upcoming summer and familiarize himself with the winter and spring challenges they currently endure. During his visit, the Prime Minister engaged with Arkhangai herders, expressing solidarity while assuring them of government support. He discussed potential solutions with the herders for addressing their issues, including the recent continuous snowfall causing road closures, hindering fodder collection, and medical access. The herders suggested that herding families grow green fodder for their own needs, facilitating the assignment of students and young professionals in veterinary and zootechnical fields to local communities, and exploring the possibility of establishing yak milk, dairy products, and weaving factories in the region, which is renowned for its Mongolian yak population.

Mongolian Foreign Affairs State Secretary Participates in 11th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development
Ulaanbaatar, February 21, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The 11th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development will be organized from 20-23 February, 2024, under the theme: “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: The effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions in Asia and the Pacific” at the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand. Organized by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), this Forum will convene delegates to discuss the regional implementation of the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development." The discussions will focus on policy solutions addressing interconnected issues such as climate change, poverty, peace, justice, and partnership. Additionally, there will be deliberations on intensifying the implementation of sustainable development goals. National-level activities and good practices will also be presented during the Forum.

Teacher-Student Duo Sets Guinness World Records for Memory
Ulaanbaatar, February 21, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Khatanbaatar Khandsuren, Founder and CEO of the Mongolian Intellectual Academy, along with his student Chingim Sainduu, have set new Guinness World Records. In the Simon memory game, both blindfolded and relying solely on auditory cues, athlete Chingim Sainduu achieved 276 presses (23 sequences), while Khatanbaatar Khandsuren, Founder and CEO of the Mongolian Intellectual Academy, achieved 325 presses (25 sequences) without errors. They successfully completed the task with only a 5-second interval between each press, adhering to the strict rules where failure to press within the allotted time results in disqualification.

Contortionist Oyun-Erdene of Cirque du Soleil Sets Guinness World Record
Ulaanbaatar, February 21, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Oyun-Erdene Senge, an actress of the world-famous Cirque du Soleil and Mongolian contortionist, broke the Guinness record by performing the most contortion roll push-ups in 30 seconds, beating the previous record of 21 with her total of 24. Actress Oyun-Erdene Senge has been practicing contortion since she was 6 years old and has been working in Cirque du Soleil for more than 20 years. Meanwhile, the acrobat of Cirque du Soleil, Lucie Colebeck, broke the Guinness record by performing the most back handsprings on a trampoline in 30 seconds.

Assistance Provided for Herdsmen Amid Dzud Disaster
Ulaanbaatar, February 20, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Following Resolution №286 by the Government of Mongolia, a comprehensive assessment of wintering conditions was conducted across Mongolia. The assessment revealed that 21 soums in five aimags are currently grappling with iron (or glass) dzud*, with snow density ranging from 0.35 to 1.05 g/cm3. Furthermore, 89 soums in 17 aimags are facing white dzud, while 82 soums in the same 17 aimags are experiencing moderate white dzud**.Responding to the urgent needs of affected communities, the Mongolian Red Cross Society has initiated assistance efforts, providing cash and mineral feed support to 4,000 herder families in 19 aimags and 1 district affected by iron and white dzud.
