Ulaanbaatar, August 11, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Mongolian students won two bronze medals at the 2nd International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI), held from August 2 to 9, 2025, in Beijing, the capital of the People’s Republic of China.
The Olympiad brought together 284 students from 61 countries who competed over two days by solving six challenging problems in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Out of the eight students in two teams participating from Mongolia, student U. Erkhes received an honorable mention based on the combined scores, while Ch. Irmuun and S. Khangerel earned bronze medals.
In addition to solving problems, participants engaged with international organizations and gained insights into addressing real-life challenges. The participants also noted that efficient utilization of computational infrastructure, particularly GPUs, was challenging.
This year’s participation doubled compared to the previous year. Moreover, participants toured technology and science parks in the People’s Republic of China and attended lectures by scholars from Tsinghua University and Peking University. Additionally, around 40 international universities and technology companies showcased their products, services, and educational programs in an exhibition.
