Inspections Target Air Pollution Sources in Ulaanbaatar

Ulaanbaatar, August 5, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has reported ongoing inspections of air pollution sources during the first half of 2025, focusing on both preventive and unannounced checks.


Under the directive approved by the State Chief Environmental Inspector, 248 boilers across 139 facilities located within designated air quality improvement zones in the capital city have been inspected. A total of 50 legal entities have been subjected to violation proceedings for failing to install filters on smokestacks, not assembling smoke and ash collectors according to design specifications, and neglecting to conduct pollutant emission tests on flue gases.


As part of the inspection, a total of 482 steam and hot water boilers at 333 facilities located in air quality improvement zones have been examined. To address 438 identified violations, state inspectors have issued official notices to 51 entities and initiated violation proceedings against 38 entities. Orders have been issued to eliminate the consequences of the violations, and oversight is ongoing.
