UNFPA: Gender-based, domestic violence clients rise by 87 percent amid COVID-19
The handover ceremony of dignity kits and COVID-19 guidelines to One Stop Service Centers and shelters in Ulaanbaatar was held last Thursday, July 16. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have been working together with financial support from the Government of Japan to protect maternal and child health, as well as to prevent and respond to violence against women and children during the time of COVID-19 global pandemic.

A charter flight on route between Seoul and Ulaanbaatar, bringing 265 Mongolian nationals, landed at Buyant-Ukhaa International Airport in Ulaanbaatar on July 20 at 5:20 pm.

One of Nine Wonders of Dundgobi aimag: Ongiin Khiid
At a distance of 18 km to the southeast of Saikhan-Ovoo soum of Dundgobi aimag, there lies a monastery named Ongiin Khiid in a site with peculiar formations. The Ongi River, the Khoshuu Khurliin Khiid, the remains of Porcelain city, and a cliff named Senjit Khad that looks like a handle—altogether, the Ongiin Khiid Complex is considered as one of the Nine Wonders of Dundgobi aimag.

Mongolia asks foreign governments to support its citizens abroad
With a goal to bring more than 10 thousand Mongolians, who have wishes to return home from abroad immediately due to the globally-spread COVID-19 pandemic, back to their homeland within a short period of time, the government of Mongolia has been intensifying its repatriation activities.

3,400 Mongolians to be brought back from abroad in July
During the press conference of the State Emergency Commission (SEC) on July 17, Deputy Prime Minister Ya.Sodbaatar, who heads the COVID-19 Operative Team of the SEC, announced that the Government does not have enough capacity to bring back all of over 10 thousand Mongolian citizens, who are currently stranded abroad due to Mongolia’s border closure to all passengers caused by concerns over COVID-19 pandemic, within only one month.

Foreign heads of state and government extend greetings for National Naadam Festival

COVID-19 recoveries increase to 211
A citizen who returned home on a charter flight from Seoul has tested positive for COVID-19, reports D.Nyamkhuu, Director of the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) at today’s daily briefing of the Ministry of Health. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 262.
