Women’s 3x3 Basketball Team Members Awarded Honored Athlete Titles

2025 /MONTSAME/. President of
Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa issued a Decree and awarded Honored Athlete titles
to the members of the Mongolian National Women’s 3x3 Basketball Team, who won a
silver medal in the 3x3 World Cup: Tserenlkham Munkhsaikhan, Khulan Onolbaatar,
Ariuntsetseg Bat-Erdene, and Nandinkhusel Nyamjav.
The coach of the Women’s 3x3 Basketball Team of
Mongolia, Canadian citizen Stephen Sir was presented the “Friendship” Medal of
Mongolia in recognition of his contribution to the friendly relations between
the two countries. Coach Stephen Sir has been working with the Mongolian
national women’s basketball team for the past two years.
After presenting the awards, President
Khurelsukh Ukhnaa remarked, “You have elevated the reputation of your homeland and
the value of the Mongol person to great heights. On behalf of the Mongol people,
I extend my sincere gratitude to you, the silver-medal winners of the World Cup,
and the head coach. I express my deep appreciation to the Mongolian Basketball
Association, the Mongolian 3x3 Basketball Association, and the Office of the
Governor of the Capital City for securing the rights to organize this
competition, as well as to the individuals and institutions for their cooperation.
As the leader of the state, I am overjoyed and proud that our national
basketball associations are achieving such heights of accomplishment in unity. Where
there is unity, there is power. You have earned the silver medal from the World
Cup of team sports, bringing joy to your homeland and fellow compatriots. I wish
you a medal from the Olympics, may you flourish to become World Champions. Today,
the Government of Mongolia commends and honors your hard work, as you have
shown the dedication of Mongolian women and set a positive example for children
and youth. May Mongolia prosper under the eternal blue sky.”
The four female basketball players have become the first female Honored Athletes in the Mongolian basketball community. This also marks the first time the Honored Athlete title has been awarded to all members of a team in the history of team sports.
