90th anniversary of ‘Menggu Xiao Xibao’ newspaper celebrated

Ulaanbaatar /MONTAME/ The 90th anniversary of ‘Menggu Xiao Xibao’ (Mongolian news) newspaper in Chinese operated by MONTSAME national news agency was celebrated on September 20.
The first edition of ‘Menggu Xiao Xibao’ newspaper was issued on September 1, 1929. Not only has the newspaper played important role in history of Mongolian media sector, but also it has been making valuable contribution to strengthening friendly relations between the people of Mongolia and China and increasing mutual understanding as being an important outgate of foreign promotion.
Opening the anniversary, Director-General of MONTSAME news agency B.Ganchimeg said “Since its first issue, ‘Menggu Xiao Xibao’ newspaper has been reporting news related to Mongolian history, culture, customs, democratic accomplishments, achievements, people’s life, events taking place in Mongolia, bilateral friendly relations and cooperation to its readers until today. Currently, the newspaper became a favorite newspaper of Chinese readers who like to read news about Mongolia and an important learning source for hundreds of Mongolian children, students and youths who are studying Chinese language and culture. I am confident that the newspaper, as a bridge of friendly relations between the people of the two countries, would make remarkable contributions in bilateral friendly ties further and show more success in promoting Mongolia abroad.”
“Our Mongolian and Chinese staff, who are generations of translators, editors-in-chiefs and managing editors made enormous contribution to develop the newspaper. Now our young and mid-generation of’ translators and editors-in-chief are honorably executing our duty to be a bridge between Mongolia and China” managing editor of Menggu Xiao Xibao B.Munkhtuul said.
In
addition, Director of Xinhua news agency in Mongolia Ashan read congratulatory greetings to the 90th anniversary of ‘Menggu Xiao Xibao’ newspaper sent
by China’s Xinhua news agency. During the event photos that show history and activities of the newspaper were presented.
