Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On September 1, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat attended the opening of the new academic year of 2016-2017 at the “Buyant Ukhaa Complex” school, which has some 2,400 children, studying in 62 classes. The school also received 303 first-graders this academic year.

The PM congratulated the gathered pupils, teachers and educators, and parents on the new academic year, mentioned that he had studied in the very school when it was called the Seventh School of Workers’ District and expressed his happiness with his participation in the celebration of his old school.

In the academic year of 2016-2017, more than 560 thousand children will be educated in the general education schools, and 1,300, in the kindergartens, throughout the country, mentioned Mr Erdenebat and added that the access to schools and kindergartens is especially deficient in Mongolia. Therefore, he said, the government is planning to take actions for improving educational sector.

For instance, the Buyan Ukhaa Complex school has to take three shifts each day to meet the study schedule. It is the Government’s goal to alleviate this load, until it would be enough for each school to take two shifts and observe the intended study plan. The government will put efforts in realizing this goal, promised the Prime Minister.
