Japan to continue joint military exercises and training

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On August 14, Minister of Defense G.Saikhanbayar received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Kobayashi Hiroyuki.
At the start of the meeting, the Minister mentioned a leading position of Japan in the third neighbor foreign policy of Mongolia, and noted the expansion of partnership between the two countries in all sectors, especially the sector of defense.
In response, the Japanese Ambassador noted the development of relations in a wide range through discussions on regional security, mutual visits of the two countries’ defense officials in all levels, consultative meetings, preparation of military personnel, and joint exercises, and highlighted that further joint exercises and training of military engineers and medical specialists will continue in the framework of the joint capacity building program between the Japan Self-Defense Forces and the Mongolian Armed Forces.
At the end of the meeting, the sides came to the decision to resume planned mutual visits and events that have been temporarily postponed due to the pandemic once the situation improves.
