Mongolian and Turkmen Businesses Lay Foundation for Long-Term Cooperation

Ulaanbaatar, June 2, 2025 /MONTSAME/. At the invitation of President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow is paying a State Visit to Mongolia.


During the State Visit, the Mongolia-Turkmenistan Business Forum was held at the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry on June 2, 2025.


At the Business Forum, Members of Government, officials of the National Chambers of Commerce, and more than 100 representatives of public and private sectors of the two countries participated and discussed a wide range of opportunities in trade, investment, and economic cooperation. The participants exchanged information on current economic conditions, business environment, and legal framework for investment in the two countries. The Business Forum served as a platform for businesses of Mongolia and Turkmenistan to enhance cooperation in food, agriculture, textiles, and knitwear.


Economic Policy Advisor to President of Mongolia Davaadalai Batsuuri said “ An Exhibition and Fair of Traditional Turkmen Carpets and Handicrafts was organized as part of the Forum, where Mongolian carpet and textile companies also displayed their products and exchanged experiences on technology, design, and raw material selection for manufacturing."


Representative of the National Museum of Turkmenistan Charyev Gochmurat noted, “This Exhibition of carpets and handicrafts was organized to further strengthen the relations between Mongolia and Turkmenistan. We see it as a manifestation of our two countries' willingness to expand relations not only in culture and art, but also in all areas. In addition to clothes and jewelry from the Museum of Turkmenistan, the Exhibition also presents world-famous Turkmen carpets. Turkmen carpets are a centuries-old traditional handicraft that requires meticulous work."


During the Forum, business representatives from Mongolia and Turkmenistan held B2B meetings and discussed implementing joint trade and investment projects and programs. The Forum is considered a crucial impetus for businesses of the two countries to establish direct contacts and lay the foundation for long-term cooperation.


Turkmenistan trades with more than 100 countries around the world, including the the Russian Federation, the People's Republic of China, Iran, and Türkiye with annual exports totaling USD 12.7 billion and imports of USD 7.3 billion. The country exports natural gas, oil, oil products, grains, carpets, and carpet products, and imports machinery, food, and pharmaceuticals.
