Eighth National Children’s Summer Sports Festival of Mongolia Kicks Off

Ulaanbaatar, May 28, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Opening Ceremony of the 8th National Children’s Summer Sports Festival was held on May 27, 2025, at the Central Sports Palace in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, bringing together officials in the field of sports, distinguished athletes, and outstanding young sports talents. 


This year, a total of 6,120 young athletes aged 9-17 who have qualified from all 21 aimags and the nine districts of Ulaanbaatar City will compete across 31 sporting disciplines for 271 sets of medals. 


At the Opening Ceremony, Chairman of the Physical Education and Sports Committee of Mongolia E. Bilegt remarked, “This Festival, organized biennially since 2018 in accordance with a resolution of the Government of Mongolia, plays a vital role in promoting summer sports, enhancing the physical well-being of the younger generation, increasing youth participation in sports, and raising the skill level of athletes. Furthermore, it serves as a platform to discover talented athletes capable of competing at continental and global levels, while also contributing to the development of our national teams’ next generation. I am confident that the final competitions of this year’s Festival will be thrilling and competitive, showcasing high-level performances that challenge intellectual and physical limits and set new athletic records.” 


Participants of the Festival will compete for championship titles in a wide range of events, including freestyle wrestling, judo, archery, shooting, badminton, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, checkers, table tennis, chess, 3x3 basketball, sambo, swimming, taekwondo, cycling, athletics, powerlifting, e-sports, mas-wrestling, mixed martial arts, duathlon, jiu-jitsu, dance, football, and boxing. The Festival will also recognize champions in para boccia, para athletics, goalball, deaf 3x3 basketball, special checkers, special athletics, and unified football. 


The Opening Ceremony was attended by State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth of Mongolia S. Oyunbileg, Head of the Youth Development Policy Implementation Department G. Batdorj, Secretary General of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee E. Badar-Uugan, and Chair of the Organizing Committee of the 8th National Children’s Summer Sports Festival O. Gerel.
