Odontuya Saldan: One Percent of Tax Credits Will Be Allocated for Air Pollution Reduction
Environment
Ulaanbaatar, May 30, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The National Committee for Air Pollution Reduction of Mongolia continues its efforts to reduce harmful emissions from vehicles.
A device that reduces exhaust gas and improves fuel
efficiency has been tested on public buses and medium-sized vehicles, and the
results show that emissions have been reduced by 46-90 percent. More than 150
vehicles, including those from state hospitals, national health institutes, ambulances,
and public buses, have been installed with emission-reducing devices from
companies such as “Mega Most” and “Eco Mining.”
Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Chairwoman of
the National Committee for Air Pollution Reduction Odontuya Saldan, said,
"The Eco Mining company device has been installed in 152 public buses. Since
the device was installed, fuel consumption has decreased by 25-30
percent, saving MNT 200 million per month. As this equipment is used
internationally, is reputable, and has a guarantee certificate, we have
directly tested it and determined its results through measurements. We are
working in every way to reduce the emissions emitted by vehicles. The
Ecological Police has now emission meters. In the winter, it is difficult to
measure car emissions because it mixes with the smoke coming from households.
But now, in the warm season, measurements are being made more accurately. No
money has been allocated to measures to reduce air pollution in the state
budget. Therefore, we are actively working to solve the problem with the
one-percent discount on corporate income tax."
The Corporate Income Tax Law provides a one percent tax credit for entities that invest in social responsibility projects. Under this Law, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia is encouraging businesses to donate one percent of their income tax credit to the National Committee for Air Pollution Reduction of Mongolia and cooperate in reducing air pollution.
