Mongolia, Cambodia to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Ulaanbaatar, August 25, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Battsetseg Batmunkh, received the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Chum Sounry, on August 22, 2025.


Commencing the meeting, Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh noted that 2025 marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Mongolia, and expressed her appreciation for Secretary of State Chum Sounry’s participation in the 10th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC).


The Minister Battsetseg emphasized that relations and cooperation with Southeast Asian nations hold a significant place in Mongolia’s foreign policy toward the Asia-Pacific region, and reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening mutually beneficial ties with Cambodia, a proactive member of ASEAN.

The Cambodian side underscored its strong commitment to advancing cooperation with Mongolia and reaffirmed its intention to promote political dialogue between the two countries.


The parties acknowledged the potential for mutually beneficial economic cooperation between Mongolia and Cambodia, particularly in the areas of agriculture and tourism, utilizing the rich resources of both countries. They also expressed confidence in deepening collaboration within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations.


Diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Kingdom of Cambodia were officially established on November 30, 1960.
