Quality of education for visually impaired children at all levels to be improved

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. There are about 1,200 visually impaired children nationwide, of whom 200 are receiving educational services.
Moreover, there are 11,000 visually impaired people in Mongolia, of whom 6,000 are of working age. According to the survey, 97 percent of them are unemployed. The low employment rate is partly due to the quality of the education sector.
To improve the quality of
education for visually impaired children at all levels, officials say there is
a need to improve the supply of Braille textbooks, increase the variable costs
of students in kindergartens and TVETs, and reform the TVET curriculum.
A working group will be
set up by the Ministry of Education and Science and the Mongolian National Federation
of the Blind (MNFB) to study and resolve these issues.
