Births decreased by 2.3 percent compared to last year

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. At the national level, 69.4 thousand
mothers gave birth in the first 11 months of 2020, decreased by 1662 (2.3%)
compared to the same period of the previous year. There were 213 (0.3%) home
births registered, decreased by 1 (0.5%) compared to the same period of the
previous year.
In November 2020, 6032 mothers gave birth, decreased by 264
mothers (4.2%) compared to the previous month. There were 16 home births (0.3%)
registered, decreased by 1 (5.9%) compared to the previous month.
According to the ‘Electronic birth registration’ by the
Ministry of Health, 5848 mothers gave birth, and 5918 children were issued
registration numbers in November 2020. From total newborn, 3106 were boys and
2812 were girls, 138 twins. The average weight of newborns was 3416 grams, and
the average height of newborns was 50.7 cm.
In terms of age groups of mothers, 3.6 percent of mothers
gave birth aged up to 20, 92.3 percent were aged 20-39 and 4.1 percent were
aged 40 and over. In terms of educational level, 1.2 percent of mothers gave
birth had no education, 4.0 percent had primary education, 11.7 percent had
lower secondary education, 35.2 percent had upper secondary education, 6.0
percent had technical and vocational education, 40.0 percent had a diploma and
bachelor degree and 1.9 percent had master or higher educational degrees.
