Gender assessment done on accessibility of public services for target groups

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In aims of giving support to the Governor’s Office of the Capital City in making public services accessible, a gender assessment has been done on the accessibility of the services for target groups in the framework of the Urban Governance Project being implemented by the Asia Foundation with financing from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
A discussion was held on the assessment results on November 8. Deputy Governor of the Capital City in charge of social development issues Sh.Ankhmaa, Asia Foundation Country Representative Mark Koenig, corresponding officials of the capital city and districts participated in the discussion.
Officials noted that the assessment is unique for providing information on the challenges that target groups face when receiving public services, and their comments as well as the factors that need to be considered from the point that it is a service.385 citizens living in the ger districts of 7 districts of the capital city and 74 state servants were involved in the study.
According to the study, it has been found that gender sensitivity is the lowest in governance and the model mechanism for public services, alongside persons with disabilities have the lowest accessibility. At the end of the discussion, they came to the decision to include the assessment results in the capital city’s sub-program on gender equality.
