Copyright organizations of four countries convening in Ulaanbaatar

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ With support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea, the Intellectual Property Office of Mongolia (IPOM) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) are jointly organizing the quadripartite meeting of Mongolian, Russian, Chinese, and South Korean copyright organizations under the theme ‘Sub-regional Meeting on Copyright as an enabler for Economic Development and Cultural Prosperity’ in Ulaanbaatar.

Head of IPOM E.Erdenesuren, Director of Policy Implementation and Coordination Department of the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs E.Enkhtuya, and Director of the WIPO Copyright Development Division Gao Hang addressed the opening of the meeting, which is taking place between May 13 and 15.

At today’s meeting, the parties discussed and shared their experience on copyright and related right issues, especially the actions and policies being undertaken by WIPO and other international organizations in regard with cultural/creative production, value of copyright, contribution of cultural/creative production to the country’s economy as well as the issues of creating an efficient copyright system for cultural development, overcoming the challenges in copyright protection in digital era, and ensuring copyright protection in cyberspace.

Moreover, the quadripartite meeting has a significant role in opening up opportunities for the neighboring countries to cooperate in the protection of copyright and related rights.
