Mongolian mountaineers climb Mount Elbrus
SocietyBayan-Ulgii /MONTSAME/. Senior technician of the Glacier Studies Station at the Agency of Meteorology and Environment Monitoring of Bayan-Ulgii aimag M.Serjuma and photographer N.Nurjas departed the country on April 17 to climb Mount Elbrus.
Having started their climbing at 3 am on April 26, they successfully reached the summit at about 1 pm, the same day. They came back to the main camp safely at 6 pm. It took a total of 16 hours to ascend and descend.
Standing at 5,642 meters, Mount Elbrus is the highest mountain in Europe, located in the Kabardino-Balkaria region in Russia. Previously, a team of mountaineers led by State Honored Athlete G.Usukhbayar and Ch.Ariunzul successfully climbed the mountain.
