Capital city governor receives Japanese Ambassador
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Governor of the Capital City S.Amarsaikhan received Ambassador of Japan to Mongolia Masato Takaoka. Noting that the city of Ulaanbaatar has relations with the cities, Sapporo and Miyakonojo of Japan, the governor underlined that the city will continue to work towards more active relations with Tokyo, despite not having official relations.
Since establishing relations with the city of Sapporo through joining the World Winter Cities Association for Mayors in 1998, Ulaanbaatar has partnered with the city in the tourism sector. As for the city of Miyakonojo, friendly relations between the two cities were officially established in 1999. Student exchange programs have been implemented since 2014, through which the city’s elders and students visited Ulaanbaatar.
The Ambassador highlighted that as the intellectual productivity of the Mongolian youth is high, they have the possibility to excel in mind sports as well as become skilled in the sectors of IT and advanced technology.
