Peacekeepers pay tribute to the Flag of Armed Forces

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On September 4, the 8th batch of Mongolian peacekeepers that will serve in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan paid a tribute to the Flag of Armed Forces at the central square of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Mongolia. The contingent consists of more than 100 officers from the General Executive Agency of Court Decision, the National Emergency Management Agency and the National Police Agency as well as over 700 officers of the Armed Forces.
The peacekeepers will depart to South Sudan on September 6-17 in four parts. Present at the event were Minister of Defense N.Enkhbold, Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces D.Davaa, families of the officers and other officials.

Defense Minister N.Enkhbold said that Mongolian peacekeepers are being appraised with their persistence, cleverness and professional skills in peacekeeping operations, enriching history of their armed forces. The United Nations highly appraised our armed forces; this is a result of Your persistent efforts. I am confident that You will fulfill your duty reputable and responsible. The Ministry of Defense will give all-round supports to matters you are encountering during the mission."

"Earlier, the 8th batch took part in the UN multinational peacekeeping exercise 'Khaan Quest' for two months at Tavan Tolgoi military training field. We have been well prepared. This year, sixty eight women are to serve in peacekeeping mission," said Colonel D.Javkhlanbayar.
Since Mongolia sent its 189 military officers to Operation Iraq Freedom in 2002 for the first time, some 15 thousand officers (in repeated counting) have successfully attended the peacekeeping mission so far.
