Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Head of the parliamentary Standing committee on social policy, education, culture and science D.Battsogt Wednesday received Mr Michel Malherbe, the Ambassador of Belgium to Mongolia.

The sides considered a course of the “Fortifying medical treatment and diagnosis center of western region” project, which is co-implemented by intergovernmental agreement between the two countries. The Ambassador undelined a social importance of the project, "this is the second big one implemented by Belgium in Mongolia". The project implementing agreement was signed in June of 2014, and its financing contract was inked in October this year, he said.

The Standing committee head said it is vital now to strengthen treatment and diagnosis centers in localities. “Some 400 thousand local people do not have an access to the proper medical aid. They always need to go to the capital city, sometimes--go abroad seeking a help,” he noted. "If the project had not been postponed, it would have been completed already, nonetheless, I have paid a great deal of attention to this matter, so has done parliament, and this let the project run normally now," Battsogt said.

He thanked the government of Belgium for helping Mongolia to improve medical services for people in remote areas.

In frames of the project, the medical treatment and diagnosis center in Khovd aimag will be equipped with the latest facilities, its doctors and experts will be trained.
