Foreign Minister Meets Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy

Ulaanbaatar, December 4, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Minister of Foreign Affairs Battsetseg Batmunkh held a bilateral meeting with Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic, in Rome on December 2, 2025.
During the meeting, the sides underlined that President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa’s ongoing State Visit to the Italian Republic has elevated bilateral relations, marked by the adoption of the “Joint Declaration on the Strategic Partnership between the Italian Republic and Mongolia,” which opens a new chapter in the history of the two countries’ ties. They agreed that the more than ten cooperation documents signed during the State Visit, covering education, science, culture, sports, tourism, media, and regional development, will make an important contribution to expanding bilateral relations and cooperation, as the two countries commemorate the 55th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.
Within the Strategic Partnership announced during the State Visit, the ministers reaffirmed their commitment to enriching Mongolia-Italy relations through tangible economic outcomes and to intensifying trade and investment. They expressed readiness to support cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises and to advance industrial collaboration in priority sectors such as fashion and cashmere supply chains, agricultural production, renewable energy, and technologies that support the energy transition. They emphasized that these efforts are expected to open new channels for increasing exports and to unlock the potential for investment and economic cooperation, thereby contributing to the development and prosperity of both countries.
The ministers also reaffirmed their intention to strengthen cooperation within the United Nations and other international organizations and exchanged detailed views on several regional and international issues, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia reported.
