Ulaanbaatar, May 14, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The “Collaborative AI-Powered Customs Modernization Initiative for Customs General Administration of Mongolia” Project will be implemented with funding from the Government of the Republic of Korea.

The Project aims at improving operational efficiency of customs and the effectiveness of risk management. A consortium of three leading technology companies of the Republic of Korea, which are B2EN, VIRNECT, and Rebellion, will take part in the Project, supporting the introduction of a service package, including a customs support system, an integrated information search platform, and an NPU-powered artificial intelligence server.

The implementation of the Project will enable early detection of risky cargo, improve the effectiveness of customs inspections, and facilitate foreign trade. Moreover, the Project will foster digital transition, enhance border control capacity, and develop data-based management and a transparent, corruption-free, and accountable system, while making a real contribution to increasing tax revenues and effectively implementing law enforcement activities.

“The customs authorities have a general mission to facilitate foreign trade and manage risks,” said Ryu Ji-song, Director of Cooperation Projects at the Ministry of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea. “The Mongolian customs sector has been digitized to a certain extent, but it is not effective enough. Through this project, the data processing stored in the big database at the customs will be improved. Consequently, customs officers will process necessary data quickly and provide clear and accurate responses to people.”

The “Collaborative AI-Powered Customs Modernization Initiative for Customs General Administration of Mongolia” Project will be implemented in 2025-2026.
