Ulaanbaatar Removes Fences and Structures to Expand Green Spaces

Ulaanbaatar, December 4, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Fences, garages, and kiosks occupying public land in the capital are being removed to expand green spaces and improve public areas. The initiative, carried out under a directive of the Governor of Ulaanbaatar, aims to ensure a healthy and safe living environment for residents.
According to the Capital City Governor’s Office, a total of 3,933 land plots have been cleared to date. Of the total plots cleared, 1,021 were related to engineering infrastructure, 2,332 fell under partial general development plans, and 580 were cleared within the framework of social infrastructure projects. Land clearance efforts are continuing.
As
a result of the clearance work, conditions have been created to build:
- 60.3 km of roads at 28 locations;
- 7.3 km of engineering
networks at 13
locations;
- Three heating plants;
- 9.21 km of flood
protection embankments
at five locations;
- New educational
facilities in 14
locations, including kindergartens for 1,050 children
and schools for 5,760 students;
- Other essential
social infrastructure
in 21 locations;
- Parking for 800
vehicles around 17
schools;
- Housing for 11,575 households.
