Carried passengers by air transport decreased by 69.4 percent from previous year

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. RAIL TRANSPORT: In the first 10 months of 2020, 24.9 million tonnes of freight were carried by railway transport. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the carried freight increased by 1.8 million tonnes (7.8%).
This increase was mainly due to 1.4 million
tonnes (16.7%) increase in export freight and 333.3 thousand tonnes (10.2%) increase
in transit freight.
In October 2020, carried freight reached 2.8 million tonnes
and increased by 117.2 thousand tonnes (4.4%) compared to the previous month.
In the first 10 months of 2020, 82.2% of carried freight by
railway transport was mining freight, 10.9% was construction materials, 1.8%
was black iron, 0.9% were agricultural products, 0.9% was food products, 0.5%
was wood products and 2.9% was other products.
In the first 10 months of 2020, 1.9 million passengers
(double counting) carried by railway transport. The number of carried passengers
decreased by 576.2 thousand (23.3%) compared to the same period of the previous
year. This decrease was mainly due to 483.8 thousand passengers (20.4%)
decrease in domestic passengers. In October 2020, the number of passengers
reached 263.2 (double counting) thousand passengers and increased by 42.0
thousand (19.0%) compared to the previous month.
In the first 10 months of 2020, the revenue from railway
transport reached MNT 645.5 billion, increased by MNT 58.8 billion or 10.0%
compared to the same period of the previous year. This increase was mainly due
to and increases in the transportation of mining products, especially from iron
ore and black iron also construction material. In October 2020, the revenue
reached MNT 69.2 billion and increased by MNT 770.6 million (1.1%) compared to
the previous month.
AIR TRANSPORT: In the first 10 months of 2020, 2.1 thousand
tonnes of freight carried by air transportation. The carried freight decreased
by 2.7 thousand tonnes (55.7%) compared to the same period of the previous
year. In the first 10 months of 2020, the total carried domestic freight by air
transport reached 72.9 tonnes (3.4%), increased by 5.2 tonnes (7.7%) compared
to the same period of the previous year. The international freight reached 2.1
thousand tonnes (96.6%), decreased by 2.7 thousand tonnes (56.6%) compared to
the same period of the previous year.
In October 2020, carried freight reached 175.0 tonnes and
decreased by 11.5 tonnes (6.2%) compared to the previous month.
In the first 10 months of 2020, 425.7 thousand passengers (double counting) carried by air transport. The number of carried passengers decreased by 967.7 thousand ( 69.4 % ) compared to the same period of the previous year. In October 2020, the number of passengers reached 31.9 thousand passengers and increased by 0.7 thousand (2.4%) compared to the previous month.
In the first 10 months of 2020, the total carried domestic
passengers by air transport reached 267.9 thousand passengers (62.9%),
decreased by 99.0 thousand passengers (27.0%) compared to the same period of
the previous year. This was mainly due to 90.7% decrease in the number of passengers
from Ulaanbaatar to Choibalsan, 88.9 decrease in flight direction to Ovoot and 67.9%
decrease to Murun.
In the first ten months, the total carried international
passengers reached 157.8 thousand (37.1%), decreased by 868.7 thousand
passengers (84.6%) compared to the same period of the previous year. This decrease
was mainly due to 92.7 decrease in Ulaanbaatar-Beijing passengers, 90.3%
decrease in Ulaanbaatar-Irkutsk passengers, 88.7% decrease in Ulaanbaatar-Hailar
passengers, 86.7% decrease in Ulaanbaatar-Hong Kong passengers and 88.7%
decrease in Ulaanbaatar-Moscow passengers.
In the first ten months, the revenue from air transport (domestic
airline) reached MNT130.9 billion, decreased by MNT311.1 billion or (70.4%)
compared to the same period of the previous year. In October 2020, the revenue
reached MNT10.1 billion and decreased by MNT230.3 million (2.2%) compared to
the previous month.
