Tenguundalai Ganbat Becomes World Champion at the 2024 World Youth Chess Solving Championships

Ulaanbaatar, November 12, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The FIDE World Youth Chess Championship for U14-U18 categories concluded in Florianópolis, Brazil, on November 10, 2024.

 

More than 520 chess players from 62 countries competed in the Championship, with five athletes representing Mongolia under the guidance of coach Batsaikhan Tserendorj. The Mongolian team took home three medals. Notably, in the U14 Boys’ Blitz (rapid game) category, FIDE Master Tenguundalai Ganbat won a bronze medal, and Margad Munkhpurev took silver in the Girls’ Blitz Event. Additionally, in the U14 Girls’ Standard category, Urangoo Gurvanbaatar placed fourth, achieving the FIDE Master title.

 

The first World Youth Chess Solving Championship took place during the tournament, where FIDE Master Tenguundalai Ganbat won the gold medal that made the National Anthem of Mongolia resonate on the world stage. Thus, Mongolia’s youth chess team returns home with gold, silver, and bronze medals from the World Championship.
