PM Expresses Commitment to Strengthening Ties with Laos

Ulaanbaatar, August 22, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Prime Minister of Mongolia, Zandanshatar Gombojav, received the Foreign Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Thongsavanh Phomvihane, on August 21, 2025.


Prime Minister Zandanshatar emphasized Mongolia’s dedication to enhancing its partnership with Laos, recognizing the country as a vital ally in Southeast Asia. Premier reaffirmed Mongolia’s intent to expand collaboration across multiple sectors, including road transport, agriculture, tourism, culture, education, and humanities.


Both sides acknowledged the potential for mutually beneficial economic cooperation between Mongolia and Laos, particularly in animal husbandry, agriculture, light industry, and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, building on the strengths of the agricultural sector. The importance of establishing efficient transport and logistics routes was underscored as a means to facilitate travel between the two countries and stimulate trade flows, contributing to a more favorable business environment.


Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane highlighted Laos’ commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between Mongolia and Laos, ensuring the implementation of outcomes from recent high-level exchanges. The two parties commended the deepening relationship between their nations, confirming the intention to expand joint efforts, according to the Media and Public Relations Department of the Government of Mongolia.
