UNGA Holds the "Sustainability Week" in New York

Ulaanbaatar, April 18, 2024 /MONTSAME/. On April 15-19, 2024, Mr. Dennis Francis, President of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), is convening the Sustainability Week in New York.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Mongolia Amartuvshin Gombosuren delivered a statement on behalf of the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) at the plenary segment on tourism. The Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of infrastructure development, greater use of investment platforms, encouraging entrepreneurship, and the adoption of new technologies for LLDCs that significantly contribute to enhancing the tourism industry and achieving the SDGs.

The Government of Mongolia pays special attention to advocating for common interests and advancing the development of LLDCs. Mongolia is currently serving as Vice Chair of the Group of LLDCs and Co-Chairing the Intergovernmental Preparatory Committee for the UN Third Conference on LLDCs.

Representatives of UN member states and other participants are discussing important issues such as sustainable transportation, infrastructure development, responsible travel and tourism, clean energy solutions, innovative financing mechanisms, social equity, and economic inclusion at this high-level event to accelerate progress towards achieving the ambitious goals of the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
