Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. MIAT Mongolian Airlines and Korean Air, flag carriers of Mongolia and South Korea established a memorandum of understanding with the purpose of air transport development, flight network expansion and promotion of competitiveness within the framework of the air communications agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the Republic of Korea signed last January. Executive Director of MIAT D.Battur and Co-Rep Director and Vice President of the Korean Air Lines Co Ltd Kee-Hong Woo signed the document.

Aimed at intensifying cooperation between the two airlines and broadening flight network, the agreement reflects a number of actions in details to gain from trade opportunities with third countries through Seoul and have a block space agreement on air cargo transportation. To put in other words, MIAT will provide its passengers with opportunities to travel to Osaka, Japan, Sydney, Australia and Singapore using MIAT airline’s OM flight ticket with layovers at Incheon airport in Seoul, South Korea.

According to MIAT, the newly-updated cooperation level will allow the Mongolian airline to increase its flight network and frequency to Southeast Asia and Australia, reduce costs, grow operating productivity and enter into new markets while giving the passengers more choices of air travel destinations and ticket fares.
