Road and Transport Minister meets with Ambassador of Vietnam
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Road and Transport Development B.Enkh-Amgalan met with Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Mongolia Ms. Doan Thi Huong, exchanging opinions on bilateral cooperation in the sectors of air, rail, road and sea transport.
Minister B.Enkh-Amgalan pointed out there is a necessity to pay attention on creating conditions for visa free travel to ordinary passport holders of Mongolia in order to increase the number of passengers to Vietnam if the two countries open direct flight between Ulaanbaatar and Hanoi.
Mentioning that the two sides are currently discussing possibilities of code sharing and working on draft bill on amending Air Relations Agreement between the two countries in this direction, the Minister asked Ambassador to support it.
As for road transport sector, Mongolia, China and Russia joined Intergovernmental Agreement on International Road Transport along the Asian Highway Network. The agreement is open for other countries and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is possible to conduct road transportation to Mongolia and Russia passing through territory of China by joining the agreement.
The
Mongolian Maritime Administration and Vietnam Maritime Administration
established a Memorandum of Cooperation in 2018, triggering cooperation in sea
transport. The sides noted that shipping agent was appointed to Vietnam and has
started activities within it.
Within the memorandum, the Minister expressed willingness to educate Mongolian sailors in Vietnam, conduct joint ship inspections, secure safety of sea transport and collaborate in training sailors in the future.
Ambassador Ms. Doan Thi Huong expressed interest to launch rail transport cooperation of the two countries and requested the Road and Transport Minister to study possibilities of expanding railroad network that will pass through Mongolia-China-Vietnam.
