Memorial monument erected for deceased mountaineers

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A monument was erected on the way to the Asralt Khairkhan in memory of 17 mountaineers who lost their lives in a snowslide in Otgontenger Mountain in October last year.
The monument was built by mountaineers with public donations to pay tribute to the victims and to remind the new generation that disasters and accidents may happen anytime.
It was chosen to erect the monument on the highest mountain in the Khentii Mountains range, Asralt Khairkhan because it is called as the threshold for mountaineers and it is believed that person who climbs that mountain is driven by the interest to conquer next mountains.
