Deputy Foreign Minister B.Battsetseg meets her Turkish counterpart
On May 8, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia B.Battsetseg received Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Ambassador Ahmet Yıldız, who is paying a visit to Mongolia on May 6-9. At the meeting, Deputy Minister B.Battsetseg expressed her satisfaction with the successful development of the bilateral relations between Mongolia and Turkey in areas of politics, defense, culture and education. She then noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia would like to cooperate with Turkey to intensify bilateral economic and trade ties in the future.

Prime Minister presents plans for construction, urban and road transport development
During the Parliament’s plenary session on May 5, Prime Minister of Mongolia J.Erdenebat discussed the current issues of construction, urban and road transportation development. According to PM J.Erdenebat, issues regarding the redraft of the policy on construction and construction material industry, development of construction material production and its exports are currently being considered. Also, a funding of the establishment of a whole sale supply network of construction materials in Zamiin-uud free trade zone, “Nalaikh” construction material industry and general plans of Baganuur Industrial Park have been settled and is now preparing the blueprints. With previous programs and investments, cement producing companies have started supplying 100 percent of the domestic needs since the first quarter of 2017 and is ready to export.

Vietnamese Vice President pays courtesy call on Parliament Speaker
Today, May 8, Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, who is paying an official visit to Mongolia, paid a courtesy call on Parliament Speaker M.Enkhbold, talking about bilateral relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Vietnam.  Speaker M.Enkhbold expressed his confidence that the visit would give important influence to strengthen traditional friendly relations and sustain the frequency of political talks. He highlighted the significance of inter-parliament cooperation to the relationship of the countries, expressing his content with widened relations between friendship groups in the parliaments, standing committees and Parliamentary offices of the two countries.

Mongolia might export up to 200 tons of goat meat to Vietnam
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ts.Munkh-Orgil made press briefing about the ongoing official visit of the Vice President of Vietnam, Ms Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh on May 8. The latter is accompanied by more than 20 businesspeople. Two countries’ business representatives will explore cooperation opportunities at the business forum to commence tomorrow, noted the FM.

OSCE observers to start their mission by end of May
Long-term observers of Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, (ODIHR), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) will come to Mongolia by the end of this month for the upcoming presidential election scheduled for June 26. They will observe election campaign, electoral process, way of solving complaints and petitions and activities of media organizations during the election.

Prime Minister sets up council of national brands
The Council on Mongolian National Brands has been established in accordance with a direction of the Prime Minister. The council is chaired by the Prime Minister, Mr J.Erdenebat. Head of the Cabinet Secretariat J.Munkhbat acts as the deputy chairman and some cabinet members, as vacant members of this council. The national brand council convened for its first meeting and approved its rules and action plan for 2017 on May 5.

Promotion of formula milk to be restricted
Today, May 05, Parliament made its first hearing of bill on Infant food and food products at its plenary meeting. Feeding infants up to 3 years old with mother’s breast milk ensures babies to grow up healthy. However, babies have to be fed with imitation milk when the mother cannot feed her baby. The bill aims to regulate the use of breast-milk substitutes, including infant formula, depending on babies' needs with doctor’s advice, said MP Ts.Tsogzolmaa.

Parliament cancelled its decision to pass big projects' sales income through Mongolian banks
The second clause of Parliamentary resolution number 29, which indicated to raise state currency reserve by passing sales income of big projects with foreign investment through accounts of Mongolian banks, was cancelled during yesterday’s (May 4) plenary session of the Parliament. 65.5 per cent or 36 MPs out of the attended 55 backed to cancel the clause. On April 14, parliament approved amendments to the 2017 state budget and other following laws and resolutions, which included resolution number 29. The Budgetary standing committee of Parliament developed a draft resolution to cancel the clause, in a request by Finance Minister, because it has caused difficult condition to implement joint program with the International Monetary Fund.

Foreign Minister Ts.Munkh-Orgil meets with Belgium Foreign Minister in Brussels

Jason Allford: IMF and WB are ready if Parliament makes its decision certain
Today, May 04, Head of Cabinet Secretariat, Minister J.Munkhbat met with the World Bank representatives, headed by Jason Allford, the Executive Director of the World Bank Group representing Mongolia and some other countries. Minister J.Munkhbat noted that protecting investors’ rights in legal frame is one of the priorities of the Government and a council in charge of protecting investors’ rights was established by an order of Prime Minister. He expressed his thanks to the World Bank for granting financial support within the IMF program to Mongolia.
