Over 7000 Visitors Gather at the Daurian Rhododendron Festival in Erdenebulgan Soum

Ulaanbaatar, May 13, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Erdenebulgan soum of Khuvsgul aimag hosted the annual Daurian Rhododendron Festival to promote local tourism.
The Festival has been expanded as an aimag-level spring tourist event, as the number of visitors is increasing year by year.
Moreover, competitions and events were held among the visitors during the Festival, including a beach volleyball competition, a quiz contest, a song contest, and a concert.
Daurian Rhododendron is an evergreen shrub common in Asia and the Altai Mountains that bursts forth with beautiful blooms in the early spring, especially in April and May. The shrub is not only beautiful but also has healing properties, which have been known for a long time. It is used to treat heat-related headaches as well as sore throats and nausea. In the nervous system, rhododendron's detoxifying properties support relaxation.
Sitting amongst the beautiful flowering bushes of Daurian Rhododendron and enjoying it with the five senses boosts energy and the immune system. It gives the same effect as experiencing a deep meditation in nature, however, the practice should not last for long hours, as one must avoid sleeping among the flowering bushes, noted the locals.
