“Swan Lake” Ballet to Enchant Audiences with Four Performances in March

Ulaanbaatar, February 27, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The artists of the State Opera and Ballet Academic Theatre will perform Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet “Swan Lake” on March 2, 3, 16, and 17, 2024.


In this ballet, you will witness the skilled execution of the 32 turns by the black swan, the sharp jumps of the jester, and many other elements of ballet artistry.


The three-act, four-scene ballet was conducted by Cultural Merit Laureate T. Gereltsetseg, Ballet Master, Cultural Merit Laureate D. Dashlkhagva, and People's Painter of Mongolia Ch. Gungaasukh served as the main painter.


The ballet "Swan Lake" has graced stages across the globe, enchanting audiences in countries that cherish classical art. It has earned reverence as a treasured masterpiece in every nation it touches. This dance drama unfolds the tale of love between the beautiful Princess Odette and Prince Siegfried. Entranced by Odette's graceful performance, Prince Siegfried falls deeply in love with her, unaware that she has been cursed by the villainous Baron Von Rothbart, transforming her into a swan. Only at night does she regain her human form. Fueled by love, Prince Siegfried bravely fights the villain to liberate his beloved.


"Swan Lake" made its debut on Mongolia's opera theater stage on June 28, 1975, under the direction of Conductor and Honored Cultural Figure J. Chuluun, with choreography by Ballet Master, People's Artist of Mongolia, State Prize Laureate, Hero of Labor B. Jamyandagva. The first roles of Odette and Odile were brilliantly portrayed by People's Artist Yu. Oyun, while Siegfried was portrayed by Honored Artist E. Oyunbat, and the role of the Jester by People's Artist O. Ganbaatar.
