Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On December 28, the National Council for Children and the Government Implementing Agency Family, Children and Youth Development Agency organized the ‘Distinguished Children of the Year’ ceremony for the 29th consecutive year. 

As the selection for the award coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, this year was unique due to how school children participated in various olympiads and competitions in-person and online on the side of their studies.

From applications received from 117 school children for their achievements in memory sports, IT, and physical sports as well as advocacy for environmental protection, humanitarian, and goodwill activities, 30 children were selected as the ‘Distinguished Children of the Year’ for promoting their country and leading their peers.

This year, school children were awarded for the following nine nominations:

• For technical thinking, new ideas, initiatives, and creativity - 12th grade student of School No. 6 of the Capital City B.Dashnyam and 9th grade student of the School of Baganuur district E.Angarag,

• For academic achievements - 12th grade student of Orchlon School O.Temujin, 12th grade student of School No. 1 B.Purevbadral, and 12th grade student of Orchlon School E.Tergel,

• For achievements in visual and performing arts -  5th grade student of School No. 3 of Dornogobi aimag G.Enguun, 7th grade student of the School of the Mongolian State Conservatory O.Nandin, 9th grade student of School No. 38 S.Bishrel, 8th grade student of School No. 53 G.Uyangadari, 3rd grade student of Shine Mongol Harumafuji School T.Margad, and 9th grade student of School No. 38 O.Egshiglent-Od,

• For achievements in physical sports - 8th grade student of School No. 1 B.Anand, 12th grade student of School No. 4 of Darkhan-Uul aimag G.Amarjargal, student of Ulaanbaatar Elite International School M.Ankhbayasgalan, and 8th grade student of Orchlon School E.Erkhes, 

• For promotion of national history, culture, and heritage - 11th grade student of School No. 1 of Khentii aimag B.Ichinnorvoo, 12th grade student of School No. 4 T.Undrakhbayar, 5th grade student of School No. 151 Z.Munkh-Erdene,

• For advocacy of environmental protection and safe environment - 12th grade student of Temuujin Complex School of Khentii aimag O.Munkhtushig, 12th grade student of the School of Tolbo soum, Bayan-Ulgii aimag I.Ruslan, 12th grade student of School No. 2 of Yusunbulag soum, Gobi-Altai aimag U.Anu-Ujin,

• For humanitarian and goodwill activities - 7th grade student of School No. 42 A.Geser, 12th grade student of School of Saintsagaan soum, Dundgobi aimag Ch.Margad, 11th grade student of School No. 3 of Umnugobi aimag L.Bolortuya, 

• For children’s self-governing groups and organizations - B.Anu for the Children’s Council of Dornod aimag, 12th grade student of School No. 4 of Orkhon aimag B.Khaliunaa, and 12th grade student of School No. 34 B.Bilguun,

• For team achievements - students of Daryn Complex School of Bayan-Ulgii aimag Kh.Akhjol, B.Ali-Rakhman (11th grade), and A.Erganat (12th grade) were awarded.
