Peacekeepers depart for South Sudan

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Having paid tribute to the army flag, military officers of the Mongolian Armed Forces’ Tenth Moto Shooting Battalion, who will serve in peacekeeping operation in the Republic of South Sudan departed to the country on October 8.
During the ceremony, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel General J.Badambazar said “Participation of Mongolian peacekeepers in the operation is of great significance to realize state policy to ensure the country’s security with political and diplomatic methods, promote Mongolia to the world and strengthen the country’s political, economic and external cooperation aside from increasing peacekeeping capability of the Armed Forces.”
Emphasizing that the battalion’s contingent have ensured their peacekeeping training and preparations in harsh weather and natural conditions by taking the situation in the mission zone into consideration, acquiring technique of the operation and raising their psychological readiness, Colonel General J.Badambazar handed over State Flag of Mongolia to administrator of the military team, Colonel D.Enkhbaatar.
48 percent of the military officers have been involved in international and UN peacekeeping missions one to six times and 52 percent is participating in the operation for the first time.
