Defense Ministers of Mongolia and Japan hold virtual meeting

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On June 1, Minister of Defense N.Enkhbold held a virtual meeting with his Japanese counterpart Taro Kono.
At the start of the meeting, Defense Minister of Japan Taro Kono highly appraised actions and measures being taken by the Government of Mongolia in prevention of COVID-19 pandemic, and the sides mutually exchanged views on their experiences and actions against COVID-19.
Noting that defense cooperation between Mongolia and Japan has been developing in a wider scope through all level reciprocal visits, consultative meetings, training of personnel and joint military exercises, the Ministers agreed to successfully continue and conduct joint training and exercises in the future in areas of military engineer and military hospital within “Capacity Building Program”, jointly run by the Armed Forces of Mongolia and the Self-Defensive Forces of Japan.
The sides also agreed to continue visits and events, which have been postponed due to the spread of the coronavirus, after the pandemic situation stabilizes.
At the
end of the meeting, Minister N.Enkhbold expressed his confidence that defense
cooperation of the two countries would develop more in the future based on common interests of the two countries and friendly relations and trust of the
people.
