Half a million people undergo medical screening before entering or leaving Ulaanbaatar

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Upon the decision issued by Governor of the Capital City, government organizations in Ulaanbaatar city have been in a heightened state of readiness in preparation since February 13. 


Today, March 9, representatives from Ulaanbaatar City Health Department, Emergency Management Department, Specialized Inspection Agency and Police Department organized a press briefing on the actions and measures taken during this period. 


A team of more than 200 police, emergency response and inspection officials have been working at eight checkpoints for auto vehicles to Ulaanbaatar city since February 7.  


Since the temporarily-suspended traffic movement to and from Ulaanbaatar city for Tsagaan Sar national holiday was lifted on March 3, a total of around 158 thousand vehicles entered or left the capital city. And more than 608 thousand passengers received medical checkups. 


Over 21 thousand employees from organizations under the Ulaanbaatar city Governor’s Office are deployed throughout the city to hand out flyers with advice and recommendations to prevent from the coronavirus infections. 


The city’s inspection agency also conducted inspections on 5631 entities in Ulaanbaatar city in the past two weeks. Disinfection was performed in 2300 shops, 865 places of food processing, 2095 public amenities and 3177 public places of other types in Ulaanbaatar city. 


As the State Emergency Commission has decided to reduce the operating hours of bars and restaurants and suspend the activities of other public places, including churches, sports clubs, hotels, the city officials delivered notices to a total of 945 bars, 321 churches and sports clubs, resorts and hotels in Ulaanbaatar city. 


Moreover, 6896 people were fined for MNT 78 million in total for spitting and dirtying public places or smoking in unauthorized areas.
