All types of transport carry 173 million passengers in 2019

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. At
the end of 2019, 69.0 million tonnes of freight were carried in total by all
types of transport. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the
carried freight increased by 1.2 million tonnes (1.7%). This increase was
mainly due to the 2.4 million tonnes (9.2%) increase in railway freight. Over
the past year, 173.0 million passengers (double counting) were carried in total
by all types of transport. The number of carried passengers decreased by 24.0
million (12.2%) compared to the same period of previous year.
This decrease was mainly due
to 24.6 million passengers (12.7%) decrease in road transport. In the fourth
quarter of 2019, carried freight reached 18.1 million tonnes, decreased by 0.7
million tonnes (3.5%) while the number of passengers were 41.7 million,
increased by 1.5 million (3.6%) compared to the previous quarter.
The revenue from all types
of transport reached MNT 2.0 trillion, increased by MNT 248.6 billion (14.4%) compared
with the previous year. This was mainly affected by MNT 100.2 billion (14.2%)
revenue of the road, MNT 92.6 billion (15.0%) revenue of the rail and MNT 55.9
billion (12.6%) revenue of the air transport, respectively. In the fourth
quarter of 2019, revenue from all types of transport reached MNT 496.7 billion,
decreased by MNT 127.8 billion (20.5%) from the previous quarter.
