Environment Minister meets BFA Chairman

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Delegates headed by Ban Ki-moon, Chairman of
the Boao Forum for Asia and 8th Secretary-General of the United
Nations were received by the Minister of Environment and Tourism N.Tserenbat on
August 20.
Mr. Ban Ki-moon underlined the importance of prioritizing environmental issues at not only regional but
also global level and introduced about regional conferences to be organized
this year.
At the meeting, the Minister
N.Tserenbat spoke about actions on climate changes being taken by Mongolia and concurred
that issues regarding the protection of nature and environment need to be
collectively resolved within international partnership alongside inter-sector
coordination. He also provided a presentation on series of measures being taken
to reduce air pollution which affects livelihoods, health and social welfare and
exchanged views on the matter.
After introducing the
process of ‘Green Passport’ campaign which aims to
enable youth to be environmentally friendly and support them to develop healthy
environmental habits, the Minister put forward a request to collaborate on the initiative.
In turn, Mr. Ban Ki-moon praised the initiative and expressed his commitment to
support.
