North East Asian Youth-Peace and Security seminar running

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, UN in Mongolia and the United Networks of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY) are jointly organizing a a regional workshop on ‘Youth, Peace and Security: Perspectives for Dialogues in Northeast Asia' in Ulaanbaatar city on June 3-4.


Foreign Minister D.Tsogtbaatar attended the opening of the seminar and delivered a short speech on unifying the voices of youths for building sustaining peace and preventing from any conflicts and violations. He stressed that artificial intelligence is doing almost all things on behalf of human, but, only, it cannot make peace and security. "Therefore, we will build sustaining peace through our talks and diplomatic activities. Hosting the seminar in Mongolia can be understood a big initiative and outcome of the country’s foreign policy. Since North East Asian security influences to Mongolia’s economy directly, we have to work effectively, creatively and thoughtfully," he added.


The Minister also made proposals such as organizing World Youth Forum on Peace, publishing ‘Peacebook’ journal for international relations by creating triple connections between the UN, Facebook Company and scholars and scientists and having a prize for future peace, achievement and prosperity in order to encourage young diplomats and researchers.  


About 60 delegates from regional countries in North East Asia such as China, South Korea, Mongolia and Japan as well as delegation of government, civil society and youth organizations from countries including Australia, Malaysia and Finland and representatives from UNFPA, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and scientific and research institutes are partaking in the workshop.
