Partnership in the cultural sector discussed

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On May 10, Deputy Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports G.Ganbayar received Programme Specialist for Culture at the UNESCO Office in Beijing Himalchuli Gurung and Programme Specialist for Culture at UNESCO Reiko Yoshida. They discussed partnership and measures being taken in the cultural sector.
Mongolia was selected as one of the 16 countries to receive the benefits of the UNESCO projects for 2019-2020 in the frameworks of the implementation of the 2005 UNESCO Convention for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions with the support of Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. In the frameworks of the project implementation, a multi-stakeholder consultation meeting took place in Ulaanbaatar on May 9.
UNESCO and the European Union jointly announced the project, of which aims are to support cultural governance, give professional assistance, and enhancing intellectual property management to strengthen the regulatory frameworks for creative industries. Ms. Reiko Yoshida introduced the project which will be implemented for the duration of 18-24 months, and noted that Mongolia can be involved in the project.
Deputy Minister G.Ganbayar said, “I am grateful that the project on supporting the creative industry correlates with the government programme. We paid more attention to supporting the cultural and creative industry and promoting cultural heritage, creating the conditions to increase income to a certain extent domestically.”
He then expressed that the ministry will partner in registering cultural heritage, implementing projects and conventions as well as further expanding the measures taken in training personnel for the cultural sector.
