Consultation held on including SDG 16.10.2 in national voluntary review
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On March 19, the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO and UNESCO Beijing Office organized a multilateral consultation on including Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Indicator 16.10.2 in the national voluntary review.
Representatives
of Ministries of Justice and Home Affairs, Foreign Affairs and Education,
Culture, Science and Sports, Cabinet Secretariat, General Archival Authority,
National Police Agency, General Prosecutor’s Office and so forth took part in
the consultative meeting.
SDG Target
16.10 is to ensure public access to information and protect fundamental
freedoms, in accordance with national legislation and international agreements
and indicator 16.10.2 is number of countries that adopt and implement
constitutional, statutory and/or policy guarantees for public access to
information. The event was aimed at introducing the indicator through
local mechanisms such as sharing information on and analyzing the necessity of
SDG indicator 16.10.2, creating a platform for enhancing joint efforts, and
later setting up a working group.
