Capacity building project for young lawyers kicks off
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONSTAME/ The project on strengthening the judicial system of Mongolia through capacity development of young lawyers was launched yesterday. The Asia Foundation in collaboration with the Mongolian Bar Association, the Judicial General Council of Mongolia, and the General Prosecutor’s Office of Mongolia will implement the project with funding of the U.S. Department of State.
The two year project is aimed at enhancing abilities of young lawyers of Mongolia and standardizing the continuous training for lawyers. It will be implemented under two main objectives of creating and strengthening training program for the newly-appointed judges, prosecutors, attorneys, and lawyers; and developing a mentorship program for young lawyers. The Asia Foundation will team up with the partner organizations in renewing the training program and introducing new training techniques through assessment on the current training program.
The launch event
of the project was attended by Michael Klecheski, Ambassador of the United
Sates to Mongolia, Mark Koenig, Mongolia Country Representative of the Asia
Foundation, J.Khunan, President of the Mongolia Bar Association, B.Binderiya, Director
General of Judiciary Cooperation and Public Relations Department at Judicial
General Council of Mongolia, M.Gantulga, Head of the Center for Training and
Research at the General Prosecutor’s Office of Mongolia, and representatives from the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs and the National Legal Institute.
