Midterm Review of the Asian and Pacific Ministerial Declaration on Population and Development held in Bangkok
SocietyUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ The Mongolian delegation headed by Mr.
Tugsbilguun Tumurkhuleg, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and
Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Economic and Social
Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) participated at the Midterm Review
of the Asian and Pacific Ministerial Declaration on Population and Development
organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the
Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on 26-28
November 2018 in Bangkok.
Senior government officials from across the Asia and the Pacific
reviewed the regional progress and gaps in implementing the Programme of Action
of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) adopted in
Cairo in 1994 and identified priority actions to address a broad set of
population-related challenges, as well as new and emerging trends. The outcome
of the meeting will be informed at the Global Review of the ICPD Programme of
Action at the 52nd Session of the Commission on Population and Development to
be held in New York in 2019.
In his statement at the Midterm Review, Ambassador Tugsbilguun
Tumurkhuleg introduced achievements and challenges faced by Mongolia in
implementing the Programme of Action of ICPD and the Asian and Pacific
Ministerial Declaration on Population and Development.
